Welcome to PVB2025, Osaka!
The 7th International Conference on Plant Vascular Biology, PVB2025, will be taking place in Osaka. This conference follows the success of previous events held in Taipei (2007), Columbus (2010), Helsinki (2013), Shenzhen (2016), Asilomar (2019), and Berlin (2022). The main objective of the conference is to provide a platform for researchers to exchange and discuss novel research findings on the structure and function of plant vascular systems.
The PVB2025 conference brings scientists together from all over the world who are working on various aspects of vascular biology. The plant vascular system is composed of phloem and xylem, which support plant life by supplying water, sugars, amino acids, and minerals throughout the body. They also play crucial roles in the coordination of plant development, physiology, and environmental responses. The discovery of long-distance signaling molecules, such as hormones, peptides, proteins, and RNAs, has revolutionized our view of the roles of plant vascular systems. The conference aims to discuss the latest breakthroughs in development, biochemistry and physiology of phloem and xylem, vascular transport of sugar, nutrients, and macromolecules, biotic interactions, vascular stem cells, electrical signaling, and mechanobiology, to advance the frontier of plant vascular biology.
Alongside this, recent technological advances such as high-throughput measurements of molecular and macroscopic phenotypes with high spatiotemporal resolution, data-driven modeling, and genetic modification through genome editing have enabled efficient engineering of the plant vascular systems. This allows us to design plants with traits desirable to agriculture and resilience to unfavorable environment. The conference therefore also aims to discuss sustainable approaches to address a wide variety of agricultural, forestry, and environmental issues emerging in each country and region.
